The presence of a bridge connecting Ko Lanta Noi (small island) and Ko Lanta Yai (big island) since 2016 makes it easier for vehicles to travel between the two islands. If arriving by vehicle from Krabi or elsewhere on the mainland, a short car ferry journey is required to reach Lanta Noi. While there may be a short wait at busy times, the ferry transfer itself takes around 15 - 20 minutes.

For those arriving by air, Krabi Airport is the nearest airport to Koh Lanta. However, it's also possible to fly into Phuket. For travelers arriving via either airports, there are several transportation options available:

Private taxi. The option to be met at the airport by a safety approved, private driver and taken directly to the accommodation provides a seamless and hassle-free experience for travelers. Minivan. Booking a public minivan is a popular choice for many travelers as it offers a cost-effective and convenient mode of transportation. There are sales offices inside any airport that can provide further information on the availability, schedules, and fares of the minivans as it changes seasonally. The minivan option is always a longer travel duration. It can range from 3-6 hours, depending on if you are coming from Krabi or Phuket.

Ferry and/or speedboats - It's important to note that the schedules of these water transportation services may vary based on the season and weather conditions.

Speedboat options are always the fastest mode of sea transport, ranging from .5 - 1.5 hours, depending on if you are coming from Krabi, Phi Phi, or Phuket.

If you choose to arrive on Koh Lanta by passenger ferry, it's good to know that all ferries and speedboats dock at Saladan in the north of the island. Saladan serves as a central point for passenger arrivals and departures. This accessibility to transportation options upon arrival ensures that visitors can conveniently reach their accommodations or explore various parts of Ko Lanta. Taxis and tuk-tuks are reliable means of transportation, and drivers are familiar with the island's layout, making it easy to navigate and reach specific destinations.
